Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan
Being on Koh Phangan I wanted to visit the nearby Ang Thong National Marine Park. Unfortunately, it was still closed at the beginning of December. Like Maya Bay, it is closed for some time so that fauna and flora can regenerate without tourists.
In that case, I decided to go to Koh Tao. A very small island located in the north. (Even smaller than Koh Phangan)
I chose an offer from Safari Boat, which at that time offered snorkeling trips to Koh Tao and Nang Yuan for $ 56. Such a trip included transport to and from the Hotel/residence (which is standard in Thailand), and snorkeling equipment. At 8 o’clock am, a minibus came to pick me up, taking on the way other people using the services of the same company. We reached Donsak Pier – the largest city on the island. After a small breakfast, each of the participants got a mask for snorkeling and we went to the marina, where a motorboat with a crew was waiting for us.
The journey lasted over an hour and we had to hold fast through the rough sea. That’s how we jumped on the waves, that you can feel the weightlessness state. One of the girls on board was very much bruised.
Koh Tao
We got to Koh Tao. At first, I had little concern because I can not swim (Yes, it’s true, there are such people), and that’s never been a snorkeling experience before. However, after fastening the life jacket, I managed to break the mental barrier and jumped into the water. It was one of the best attractions in which I participated in my life.
The trip also included lunch, which took place in a small restaurant on the edge of the island. The menu was simple: rice, chicken, pork, fruit and something to drink.
Koh Nang Yuan
After lunch, we sailed to the island of Koh Nang Yuan. It is located 400m from Koh Tao and is one of the most beautiful islands in the world. In fact, there are 3 tiny islets connected by a beach that disappears under water when it flows.
The island belongs to the National Park and access to it is additionally payable 100THB. You can not bring plastic bottles or cans. All to take care of the reef. However, you can buy beer and other drinks at the local bar. Business is business.
On the way to the sandy beach, we climbed to the highest point on the island. It is also a great vantage point from which the view of the other two islands is spreading. By the end of the day you can swim at the local coral reef or relax on the beach. Unfortunately, the sun did not spoil that day, so I jumped into the water right away.
